Buy the full game to fight this boss!

Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom is a rather standard action RPG with hordes of enemies, which is cool but the hordes take too long to kill with so little risk that the combat ends up being a button masher… which is cool too I guess but hopefully in the full version there is a little more too it other than managing your PP.

Graphics are very detailed, even though a lot of that detail is lost in all the bloom. Tearing is annoying as well. It sucks that next gen graphics seem to be super detailed with bloom and HDR to mask that detail and frame rate issues or tearing to be annoying. We need more solid games like Mario Galaxy!
Cool skeletons who break apart! Cool ghost knights! Cool boss that I didn’t get to fight cause the demo ended! Cool character designs all the way around it seems.
Dream world is interesting, though there doesn’t seem much to do there except talk to my miserable cynical mentor. Again the demo really isn’t showing what this game could be… or is it showing what the game actually is?

Objection!

I picked up Phoenix Wright 3 when it came out and for some reason I stopped playing it midway through the second case. The abandonment is not because I’m bored. In fact, a major plot twist just occurred. Instead lets blame terrorism and be done with it.

I’m undecided on the many many links to the previous games. Many characters return in this installment, and its both cute and annoying. Apparently only two dozen people live in this city.

As is usual for the series it is incredibly frustrating knowing what is going on but not knowing what obscure series of steps I need to take for the game to recognize that yes I do know what I’m doing. There is way too much needing to find a sledgehammer, a chicken with a pulley in it, and a Canadian prostitute in a certain order in order to pursuade the dry cleaners to give me my suit. The game would flow better if I could find the different clues in any order. I mean really, I talked to Cop about CEO then I could finally visit my client in jail and because I talked to my client in jail I could finally get my jar back and investigate the basement about the jar… oh and now it adds the conspicuous pink box into my evidence file instead of the first 10 times i looked at it. Thanks game. Gamefaqs is really tempting at times like these.

Yet despite my complaints there is nothing else in gaming like the courtroom sequences when objections and accusations are flying back and forth, pumping music playing, everythign flowing smoothly. Then I slam headlong into another game of figuring out what the heck the game wants.

Best new feature of the third game: chime scales

And holy crap a sterotypical Canadian judge!

Now, It Is Beginning of a Fantastic Story!!

In a surprising development, I have decided on a domain name prior to my self-imposed deadline of January 1st. Consider this the soft-launch of Rocket Pie… dot com. I need to scrounge up some rocket and pie related imagery, settle on a theme, and tweak everything like the perfectionist bitch I am. Ideally, I won’t give up half way through this process as is my modus operandi. So until I get nice things such as colors and content please knock this place around a bit. Not too much though, because I likely don’t know how to fix any major problems.
